New York, NY, March 2008 – RE Speed Network and UPworld.com held a joint commercial real estate and building industry networking event on Wednesday, March 5th, 2008, at The Beekman Tower Hotel in Manhattan. The reception attracted more than 200 real estate, finance, architecture, and construction professionals. 60 attendees participated in a speed networking session organized during the event by RE Speed Network.

Both the free industry party at the Top of The Tower Cocktail Lounge and the speed networking session at The Beekman Tower Hotel’s ballroom were attended by representatives from the Tri-state’s top brokerage, development, investment banking, architecture, and construction firms.

UPworld.com is a free on-line networking platform that connects thousands of real estate, finance, design, and building professionals to one another for new business opportunities, team building, knowledge exchanges, deals, and projects. Jennifer Magee, UPworld.com Co-founder, stated, “Our networking events complement the on-line activities of UPworld’s members and allow industry professionals to interact with one another in a friendly, open environment.” Oisin Clancy, UPworld.com Co-founder, added, “UPworld members create easily edited on-line profiles and property or project portfolios, to attract partners and prospects, and to showcase their expertise and services. They network with each other locally, nationally, and internationally to develop business connections and form project teams.” UPworld events reinforce on-line connections as the network members can plan meetings at events in advance, and then easily follow-up afterwards through the UPworld site.

Commenting on the fast-growing popularity of speed networking sessions, RE Speed Network Co-founder Laurence Ross, an investment sales broker at Besen & Associates, said, “Today’s fast-paced business environment has created a demand for targeted, efficient networking events that allow professionals to cut right to the heart of the business matter.” RE Speed Network Co-founders Dave Kahane and Oren Klein added, “Our three-minute quick pitch approach to networking is very attractive to fast-paced real estate professionals. It allows participants to quickly determine whether or not there is an opportunity for further business.” Ori Klein, RE Speed Network CTO and Partner, added, “Our registration process ensures a diverse real estate crowd at every session.” The idea to create a speed networking event was born after the founders attended numerous functions that were targeted too broadly to fulfill the specific business networking needs of the commercial real estate industry.
